bohemian grove

it all turns poison eventually
the seven arts the hearts that bleed
the bomb built under a grove of trees
it all turns poison eventually
well it started off
all so innocent
the actors and
the journalists
gathered in a
drugged out bliss
slept with the bugs,
entomologists
that was years ago
a century or so
now the older growth
has been logged for homes
but how did these things
end up this way?
was it meant to be?
is it here to stay?
it all turns poison eventually
the seven arts the hearts that bleed
the bomb built under a grove of trees
it all turns poison eventually
well the business men
have cash to give
they end their days
with laxatives
cuz they’re so full of
fantastic shit
the fires started
on accident
the president
the scientist
so well conceived
so secretive
the darkened rooms
hand-tailored suits
they sent a dog
up to the moon
it all turns poison eventually
the seven arts the hearts that bleed
the bomb built under a grove of trees
it all turns poison eventually
well the poets weep
on a bed of leaves
they mourn the things
they failed to keep
cuz they lost control
but continued to dream
thats the way it goes
when they sing you to sleep
you were not alone
but you’re still guilty
an idle hand
is an evil thing
theres badness abound
all about this town
you might think its nice
but you’ll come back around
it all turns poison eventually
the seven arts the hearts that bleed
the bomb built under a grove of trees
it all turns poison eventually

i feel like ive never left this town
but ive been all around the midwest
it’s mostly the fuckin same
but there are several points of interest
in staples minnesota
there aint much to do but grow up
revving engines kickin cow shit
bailing hay
the boys all got together
did it by the letter
built some sick jumps next to
the highway
its the same out in mora
cambridge sands like florida
if you treat it right it
acts like clay
well i know every fuckin racetrack
that ever did exist
and if you listen for a minute
ill tell you where they is
racine wisconsin
is the worst place i’ve ever been
there aint a racetrack there
it’s just the worst place ive ever been
and tigerton has some
unsavory folks
and i tore up my knee there
on some other fellas spokes
well wheeler it needs water
arkansaw needs our hope
its sad to drive past places
you once had called home
well i know every fuckin racetrack
that ever did exist
and if you listen for a minute
ill tell you where they is
saw god in byron illinois
met a girl in kingsbury indiana
never got her number
but i wish that i hada
broke my heart near zumbrota
same thing in indianola
it never works out going right when
people think they know ya
feel like ive never left this town
but ive been all around the midwest
it’s mostly the fuckin same
but there are several points of interest

well i’ve been dreaming
of some busy bustling place
where the weather
don’t slap you in the face
well Duluth
is bringing me down
and it’s time
to head further south
cuz these movies
they fail portray
the horror
of a cold snowy day
yeah winter
has taken a hold
i hear forture
favors the bold
well i’ve been dreaming
of some busy bustling place
where the weather
don’t slap you in the face
but LA,
it looks like it sucks
from the bands
my friends take pictures of
and New York,
it still seems in love
with the old ways,
i think i’ve had enough
well then Nashville,
please don’t get me started
all the rich kids,
thinkin that they’re artists
well i’ve been dreaming
of some busy bustling place
where the weather
don’t slap you in the face
how bout Paris
you know i speak french
vous venez avec
tu ne pas regrettez
it wasn’t perfect
but it’s all that i had planned
and if you liked it
well i’ve got more of that
je t’adore
or at least i think i do
and if you agree
then we should parle beaucoup

bright

where im from we don’t see much
and there aint a lot to say
the nights were full of nothing
and the evenings shades of gray
when i left i didn’t know where
just knew i had to get away
and how lucky i was then
to stumble to this place
i have never seen a light as bright as yours
could you shine it one more time, little bird
oh little bird
at first i was reluctant
ya know i tend to shy away
but my heart was always open
and your arms just the same
id say its for the best
as the colors fulled my days
and the rainbow on my chest
shows me all the ways
i have never seen a light as bright as yours
could you shine it one more time, little bird
oh little bird
and long before i lost you
i knew there’d come a day
when the words upon your walls
would have to fall or fade
so i kept some for myself
and i have to thank a friend
and if i can fuckin help
this is not the end
i have never seen a light as bright as yours
could you shine it one more time, little bird
oh little bird

well i know that you take this
seriously
but i can’t take your paintings
seriously
you’ve got a scene inside your mind
that is bigger than this place
there is paint around the room
there is paint upon your face
and you feel way too confined
by the limits of this space
there are limits to your love
there are limits to your grace
and you’ve torn it all apart
rearranged it every way
and ya feel like giving up
you can’t go another day
well i know that you take this
seriously
but i can’t take your paintings
seriously
well it’s a forest scene
that’s abundantly clear
there’s a lot of green
and a sense of air
you’re a darling deer
in a frozen fog
but your homes deforest
yeah it’s all been logged
there are rabbits in the corner
that are hiding from a dog
and they do not believe in
but they’re praying to the gods
well i know that you take this
seriously
but i can’t take your paintings
seriously
there is blood on some hands
and a notion of relief
the shade of the red
leaves a hint at your motif
there’s a hatchet in my head
and i’m missing my teeth
there are people in a crowd
all around me
all of this
on a city street
by a closed down club
where we’d always meet
well i know that you take this
seriously
but i can’t take your paintings
seriously
well you’ve got mounds of talent
you’ve got mounds of clothes
you’re a regular picasso
you’re an average joe
you’ve been acting like a jerk
and someone should let you know
if you’re ever gonna make it
you gotta let that shit go
you should clean up all the brushes
you should disinfect the mold
cuz you can’t keep gettin sick
if you’re ever gonna grow

capitol

theres a sign in your face
it says you should buy
how can you win the race
if you don’t even try
you have to get first place
no time to wonder why
and you get so worked up
that you just start to cry
and it’s not your fault
what your heart wants
is at odds with the state
but you dont wanna die
the process eliminates
theres no other reason why
its clear bright as day
that you have to get by
and you get so worked up
that you just start to cry
because
there’s just some things
we have to know
and so lets march down to
the capitol
they say you’ll carry to term
or we’ll lock you away
but they don’t give a damn
in nine months and a day
and they don’t give a fuck
if your life’s on the line
don’t you get so worked up
that you just start to cry
and they think its best
for them to control this mess
and so there’s guns abound
you better watch your eye
dont you dare look around
they’ll remind ya you’re alive
you’ll get used to the sounds
of when your friends die
and you’ll get so worked up
that you’ll just start to cry
because
there’s just some things
we have to know
and so lets march down to
the capitol
they say “how can we change
you know we’ve never even tried
and besides you’re insane
everything you think is lies
so lets just play this game
and you dont you ever ask me why”
and you get so worked up
that you just start to cry
cuz there’s things to do
rebuild the world anew
cuz there’s no sense acting weak
when that’s how you’re perceived
punch em right in the teeth
drag em out in the street
do whatever you must
for to retain your rights
just dont get so worked up
that you just start to cry
because there’s just some things
they have to know
so let’s march down to
the capitol
